CARE

A midwife will be available at all times by phone if a concern or question arises. 24/7
You can text 8am/8pm, and please call if there is an emergency.

Comprehensive Prenatal Care
  • Routine prenatal visits during which we perform a standard prenatal exam including vital signs on the mother and the baby and monitoring for optimal growth.
  • As nutritional education and emotional support can serve as preventative care, these topics are often central to our discussions.
  • We order lab work and Ultrasounds and inform you about your many options and choices involved in maternity and newborn care.
Labor & Birth Care
  • When you are ready for our support, in early or active labor, we come to your home. We bring a complete set of birth equipment including a birth stool, a Doppler for listening to your baby, herbal remedies and emergencymedications.
  • We discretely monitor the well-being of mother and baby throughout labor.
  • Eating and drinking is encouraged throughout your labor.
  • Comfort and pain-relief measures are utilized, such as changing positions, movement, rest, privacy, warm water, touch, and encouragement.
  • Partners, siblings and chosen support people are encouraged to be as involved as possible.
  • Cord clamping is delayed to allow the baby to get his or her full supply of blood.
  • Family bonding is respected; mothers and babies are not separated.
  • We stay in your home for approximately 2- 3 hours after the birth.
 Postpartum Care
  • Routine follow-up fall on Day 1, Day 3, and Day 7, Week 2, Week 4 and Week 6-8, during which we weigh the baby, check in on feeding and sleeping patterns, monitor the mother’s healing progress, and tell you how cute your baby is!
  • Breastfeeding is encouraged and supported!
  • Newborn screening is offered. Hearing screening referrals are made.
